Appointments

We advise patients to call as early as possible.  In the first instance you will be offered a telephone consultation.  If required, the clinician will invite you to attend the surgery for a face-to-face consultation.

Emergency Appointments

If there are no on-the-day consultations left when you call and you feel that you have an urgent condition that cannot wait until the next day, then you may be offered an emergency consultation.  This will at the discretion of the on-call G.P.

Pre-Bookable Appointments

If you want to book an appointment for a date in the future, we have some appointments available for this, up to 2 weeks in advance.  Please note that you may need to wait a little longer for a doctor of your choice.

Home Visits

Call between 8.00am - 10.30am

If you are unable to come to the surgery because of illness or infirmity, you can request a routine home visit by the doctor.

Please try to make your request for a home visit before 10.30am as this gives the doctors time to plan the day ahead.  The receptionist may ask you for a description of your symptoms.  This helps the doctors prioritise the calls and ensures the doctor is properly prepared for the visit.

Please note that you can make a request for an urgent home visit at any time during surgery hours.

Telephone Consultations  

With Doctor

Call between 8.00am - 10.30am

If you feel that your query can be dealt with over the phone, then please phone the surgery and we will offer you either a telephone consultation or leave a message for the doctor.

The doctor will normally phone you back after morning surgery, between 11.00am - 12.00pm.

With Nurse

Call between 8.00am - 12.30pm

If you wish to speak to a Practice Nurse by phone, then please call the surgery and we will either leave a message for the nurse, who will call you back when she is free, or you may be able to speak to her immediately if she is available.

If you phone outwith these times, you can leave a message and a doctor, nurse or staff member will get back to you.

Appointments with Nurse

Call between 8.00am - 6.00pm 

If you wish to see one of our nurses, then please make an appointment - patients are seen by appointment only.

You can make an appointment either by telephoning the surgery - 01592 713299 - or in person.

Nursing Services

Our practice nurses provide a variety of routine treatment room services.  Some of these include the following:

• New patient health checks
• Immunisations (travel vaccinations, flu vaccinations)
• Injections
• Blood tests
• Blood pressure checks
• Dressings
• Ear syringing
• Cervical smears
• Removal of stitches

District Nurses & Health Visitors

Our team of District Nurses are based at Muiredge Surgery and can be contacted by telephoning the surgery - 01592 713299.
